Our First Principal MEZ Cams Campbell had the very great pleasure of exalting his brother Brian into the Holy Royal Arch Degree in the Chapter. We had a terrific day with a few visitors from around the Province, including our own Grand Superintendent Iain Morrison, but what made it extra special for Cams and Brian was the presence of Alex Whannel, MEZ of Ayr RAC No 250 EG3. Alex was in the chair of Lodge Prestwick No 1060 when Cams and his brother did their Mark Degrees 25 years ago. Both Cams and Brian fell out of freemasonry when family, study and work came along. Cams found his way back in in 2008 when he moved to Arran, but Brian didn’t come back into freemasonry until he joined our Chapter. And now Brian’s son Scott is about to submit his papers to Prestwick! Alex is back in the chair of Lodge Prestwick again, so it’ll be a real trip to go back and be part of Scott’s ceremonials.
Cams did the whole of Lecture 1 at the end of the ceremony and got through it all without a prompt. It’s one of his favourite bits of ritual, but boy is it long!
And, would you believe it, Brian was nominated for Office immediately following his exaltation, so he’ll be installed as Scribe N in the September installation. If we could just get a few more locals to attend, we’d be well sorted for the next few years’ of offices. But we’re getting there. Just got to keep on sojourning and working on that ritual!
