Saturday 17 August 2013 was another historic day for Arran St Molios Royal Arch Chapter No 893 for two reasons: the dedication of our Book of the Holy Law, and our first ever live Royal Arch Degree!
Book of the Holy Law
The Bible was donated to our fledgling Chapter on the occasion of its consecration on 19 May 2012, but getting the three donating Companions together at one meeting proved challenging, until Saturday. They were presented by MEC John Hackett, PZ of 893 and reigning Grand Superintendent of the Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Argyll and the Isles, in the persons of
- MEC George E. Paul, MEZ, Rockmount Royal Arch Chapter No 367
- MEC Ian G. Paul, MEJ, Glasgow Tolbooth & Cathedral Royal Arch Chapter No 67
- Comp. Ross Mennie, Partick St Marys Royal Arch Chapter No 113
George led the ceremony of dedication and all three companions signed the inside leaf.
Royal Arch Degree
Our candidate for the ceremony of exaltation was Alex Roberts. Bro. Alex went through his Excellent Masters Degree on 18 May; that was the first degree our Chapter had performed, so Alex will go down in history as our first candidate for both degrees. He thoroughly enjoyed the day and was an exemplary candidate for the ceremony of exaltation. The Companions had put in a lot of rehearsal time and it showed in the degree work. The improvisation of the vault was particularly effective, with the dimming of the lights and the spotlight on the Altar.
All were congratulated for a fine degree. It’s always nice to have our efforts commended by the high heid yins!
Comp James Currie says
I loved my visit to St Molios Lodge.
Perhaps next time I can visit the Chapter.
Very Best Wishes to your Candidate.
