Donald Bannatyne gave us a lecture during our regular meeting tonight. Donald is a Past Master of our lodge and current Almoner. He’s in his last few months of a 5-year term as Depute Provincial Grand Master of Argyll and the Isles, before which he did 5 years as Substitute PGM.
Donald spoke on the re-siting of Titwood Parish Church in Pollok, Glasgow and the local Arran connection to the project. The Minister of the church for a number of years was the Reverend James Currie who was a Master Mason in Lodge St Molios and John Thomson of Lamlash, who was a stonemason employed in the building works. A number of years later Jocky Thomson as he was known to his peers was to become a Master Mason in Lodge St Molios. Bro. Donald illustrated his talk by exhibiting a number of photographs commemorating the event.
Brethren were then treated to a series of anecdotes and the happy events which had occurred during the previous nine and a half years as a Commissioned Office Bearer in the Province.
Donald rounded of his talk by referring to the topic of solicitations in the approach to new members joining the Lodge.
