Captain James Murchie of Shiskine, Isle of Arran gave an hour-long talk on his life at sea with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary at our regular meeting in September. The talk was accompanied by some fabulous photos of ships, locations and ships’ companies around the world and it was utterly fascinating. He told the story of sharing a table with the Queen’s Press Secretary Michael Shea in the middle of the Pacific. Upon telling Mr Shea where he was from, Michael’s reply was “oh, do you know Willie Cook?” Turns out Mr Shea had a holiday home in Kildonan!
The brethren of Lodge St Molios No 774 would like to thank Captain Murchie for coming along and giving us a fascinating talk.
