Installation Ceremony
Christopher Stirland was installed as Right Worshipful Master of Lodge 774 for the second time on 2 December 2017 by Andrew Martin and Tim Keen, with assistance from Donald Mackay. This was Tim’s first time as an installing master and he delivered his ritual in his usual polished manner, including a few well-placed jokes relating to the wardens’ cuffs!
The office bearers remained more or less the same, but with one notable exception: our newest-made master mason, Derek Fleming, was installed as Junior Deacon. In the year since Derek got his 3rd degree, he’s worked hard on floorwork, filling in for junior offices and visiting other lodges when he can. A few more like Derek would put the lodge in very safe hands over the coming years.
John Murchie was toastmaster for the harmony and did a grand job of introducing the speakers and entertaining us with his jokes. The Province of Argyll and the Isles was represented by the Depute PGM, our own Donald Bannatyne, who gave a heartfelt speech thanking the brethren for the support given to him during his nearly 10 years as a commissioned office bearer in the PGL.
The raffle went well, with a grand prize of £200 in cash and a second prize of a festive hamper. The table was laden with bottles and boxes and envelopes and a few brethren went home with multiple prizes. Many thanks to all who participated in this and who donated the wonderful prizes.
