Royal Arch Chapter No 893

The idea of forming Arran St Molios Royal Arch Chapter No 893 first came about, as many things do, with a discussion at the bar one night. It was the brainchild of John Hackett, who felt that freemasonry on Arran was strong and healthy and yet brethren looking to advance their masonic careers had no option but to join a Chapter on the mainland. The main mover and shaker on Arran was one of our past masters of Lodge St Molios No 774, Dave Brambles.

Many discussions and committee meetings later, Arran St Molios Royal Arch Chapter No 893 was consecrated in May of 2012.

The Chapter falls under the remit of the Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Argyll & the Isles, which itself is governed by the Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland in Edinburgh. The first First Principal was John Hackett, the Grand Superintendent of the Provincial Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Argyll & the Isles and PZ of Cowal Royal Arch Chapter No 496. His Second and Third Principals were Sandy Cameron and John Corbett. John Hackett was followed by by the first Arran-based First Principal, John Corbett.

The Chapter meets four times a year, at 12 noon on the third Saturday in May, June, August and September.
